198: More Podcasts About Buildings and Food

The Sickos yammer. No topic! All minutia! We yap about eating burgers under the L tracks, Home Depot hot dogs, Joe's son getting spooked by the Roomba, Monster Train, and any number of dumb shit. It's fun to hang out with your Sicko homies

[00:00:28] The Podcast for Geniuses and the Only Podcast

[00:00:31] We take a look on Anime Sickos

[00:00:33] The Four Pillars of Modern Misery

[00:00:35] Anime, Gaming, Posting, and Jobs

[00:00:37] I am Tom and Anime Sicko

[00:00:39] I am Joe and Anime Sicko

[00:00:42] Often I'll see people complain about podcasts

[00:00:45] Not ours, other podcasts

[00:00:47] They'll complain

[00:00:47] Of which there are none though

[00:00:50] Yeah, which makes this even weirder

[00:00:52] That they do this

[00:00:54] But they'll say something to the effect of like

[00:00:56] I couldn't stand this podcast

[00:00:58] It was excruciating

[00:00:59] Because instead of talking about the topic of the episode

[00:01:03] The hosts just went on and on

[00:01:06] About minutiae that happened to them

[00:01:09] Like their lives specifically

[00:01:11] That no one else could possibly care about

[00:01:13] They just went on and on about that

[00:01:15] For like 10 minutes before they got to the topic

[00:01:17] Well guess what, fucker

[00:01:18] There ain't no

[00:01:19] There's no topic in this one

[00:01:21] It's all that

[00:01:22] We are in uncharted waters

[00:01:25] Basically the reason is

[00:01:27] The theme was

[00:01:29] We ain't got no ideas

[00:01:32] Because like here's the thing

[00:01:33] It's like

[00:01:34] What I would

[00:01:35] I wanted to do an episode

[00:01:37] On this show Severance

[00:01:38] It's very good

[00:01:39] I just think we could just

[00:01:41] Just do

[00:01:41] Another one

[00:01:43] Don't acknowledge the first one

[00:01:45] We just do it again

[00:01:46] It's that good

[00:01:47] It was so funny

[00:01:48] Joe was like

[00:01:49] Joe was all like

[00:01:51] Cooked up

[00:01:52] Like cooked up

[00:01:53] Joe was all excited

[00:01:54] Like cooked up

[00:01:55] That's what you do

[00:01:56] Being cooked is bad

[00:01:58] That wasn't what was happening

[00:01:59] What is cooked up?

[00:02:00] I don't know

[00:02:01] Like sizzling in a pan

[00:02:02] He has hamburger earmuffs

[00:02:02] What are you saying?

[00:02:05] Joe was really excited about

[00:02:06] Like what's another show we can watch

[00:02:08] I'm excited about shows

[00:02:09] And it felt awful

[00:02:10] Because it was like

[00:02:11] Someone who was like

[00:02:12] Only eating like gruel

[00:02:13] And then they have

[00:02:14] I prepared him like

[00:02:16] A plate of dragon meat

[00:02:18] And I was like

[00:02:18] This is great

[00:02:19] Can we have more?

[00:02:20] It's like no

[00:02:21] That was the only dragon

[00:02:22] They never made another dragon

[00:02:23] I mean this is Dragon Ball again

[00:02:24] This is like

[00:02:25] You're a kid

[00:02:25] You're like wow

[00:02:26] This is anime

[00:02:29] What else is

[00:02:30] Oh

[00:02:31] Okay so this is like

[00:02:33] The only thing like this

[00:02:34] Okay okay

[00:02:35] Like I bet they're all

[00:02:36] Just as good

[00:02:37] And they all are just as unique

[00:02:40] And charming in art style

[00:02:41] And the perverts

[00:02:43] Are only

[00:02:44] Probably only slightly

[00:02:46] Off-putting

[00:02:47] They do all have a pervert character

[00:02:50] That's still true

[00:02:51] That part was accurate

[00:02:53] It is funny

[00:02:54] The degree to which

[00:02:56] I was burnt out

[00:02:57] Just because like

[00:02:58] When I finished a TV series

[00:03:00] Honestly like

[00:03:01] For the first time

[00:03:01] Since like

[00:03:02] I don't know

[00:03:02] Probably

[00:03:03] Before Ivan was born

[00:03:05] I was like

[00:03:06] Oh I can

[00:03:06] Do it

[00:03:07] I did it

[00:03:08] Like I was like

[00:03:09] Oh I can consume

[00:03:10] A narrative

[00:03:11] And it was just like

[00:03:12] I was just

[00:03:13] Cooked all the time

[00:03:14] After work

[00:03:15] And I just didn't

[00:03:15] Have it in me

[00:03:17] The only other show

[00:03:19] We've been sort of

[00:03:19] Getting through slowly

[00:03:20] Is The Bear

[00:03:22] So if I understand

[00:03:23] This right

[00:03:23] You just saw

[00:03:25] Cousins training arc episode

[00:03:27] Oh we're done with season two

[00:03:28] So we saw

[00:03:29] When he learns about Nen

[00:03:32] It's so

[00:03:33] Fuck like

[00:03:34] This is

[00:03:35] Not an exaggeration

[00:03:37] Like the arc

[00:03:38] And I don't

[00:03:39] I don't mean to like

[00:03:40] Say like this makes

[00:03:40] The character not good

[00:03:41] The character's wonderful

[00:03:42] It's like

[00:03:43] He's a piece of shit

[00:03:45] A guy says

[00:03:47] Hey you should care

[00:03:48] More about forks

[00:03:49] And he

[00:03:50] Just gets his

[00:03:51] DNA

[00:03:52] Rewritten

[00:03:54] And he becomes

[00:03:56] Like

[00:03:56] A butler

[00:03:57] He becomes a butler

[00:04:00] I mean

[00:04:01] Yeah

[00:04:02] I can't say anything

[00:04:03] He's still calling people

[00:04:04] Lizards and stuff

[00:04:05] Like I like that

[00:04:06] He's still very much

[00:04:07] Like shitty

[00:04:08] I think

[00:04:09] Yeah just like

[00:04:10] Someone's like

[00:04:10] You know you can

[00:04:11] Like try to do

[00:04:12] A good job

[00:04:13] Right

[00:04:13] Like you do know

[00:04:15] That

[00:04:15] You know what it is

[00:04:16] It's the like

[00:04:17] Non-funny version

[00:04:19] Of when Tim Robinson

[00:04:20] Gets told by that kid

[00:04:22] Like you don't have to

[00:04:22] Just say the first thing

[00:04:24] That comes into your head

[00:04:25] Sometimes I think things

[00:04:26] That I don't say them

[00:04:27] Because it might hurt

[00:04:28] Their feelings

[00:04:29] And he's just like

[00:04:30] What

[00:04:33] Oh my god

[00:04:34] That's

[00:04:35] I love that

[00:04:36] Because

[00:04:36] The

[00:04:38] Cousin is like

[00:04:40] The best character

[00:04:41] In the bear

[00:04:41] If you don't know

[00:04:42] About the bear

[00:04:43] It's about

[00:04:44] Fucking

[00:04:45] Restaurants

[00:04:46] And shit

[00:04:46] In Chicago

[00:04:49] That's

[00:04:49] That's the other thing

[00:04:50] It is

[00:04:52] It does feel like

[00:04:53] It's

[00:05:00] The

[00:05:04] It's

[00:05:04] It's like

[00:05:05] Very pleasing

[00:05:07] I'm sure

[00:05:07] Like

[00:05:07] They would play this

[00:05:09] Before I get

[00:05:11] Temple Grandin

[00:05:12] They would do this

[00:05:13] To Temple Grandin

[00:05:14] Yes

[00:05:14] Yes

[00:05:14] So that like

[00:05:15] When the

[00:05:16] Plunger

[00:05:17] Smashed into your skull

[00:05:19] The goo inside

[00:05:21] Would be at

[00:05:22] Maximum relaxation

[00:05:23] What if

[00:05:24] One

[00:05:25] If it was called

[00:05:27] The

[00:05:27] The

[00:05:27] Splunger

[00:05:28] And two

[00:05:28] If they kept

[00:05:29] Saying that

[00:05:30] In no country for old

[00:05:31] And I just like

[00:05:31] Chigurh and his

[00:05:32] Spelunger

[00:05:33] He can't be stopped

[00:05:35] I just said

[00:05:36] Plunger

[00:05:37] But I think

[00:05:37] Splunger

[00:05:38] Is a better

[00:05:39] See this is why

[00:05:39] You have two

[00:05:40] People

[00:05:41] Right

[00:05:41] One punches up

[00:05:44] Man I gotta say

[00:05:46] What

[00:05:47] This is

[00:05:48] Everphil of nothing

[00:05:49] But what a dumbass

[00:05:50] Like who were the

[00:05:51] Fucking guys

[00:05:52] Who decided

[00:05:52] What the terms

[00:05:53] Were

[00:05:54] That punch

[00:05:55] Up

[00:05:55] Both meant

[00:05:57] To literally

[00:05:58] Throw a punch

[00:05:59] Up

[00:06:00] In terms of

[00:06:01] Telling a joke

[00:06:02] Which I hate

[00:06:03] That term

[00:06:03] Because I'm like

[00:06:04] No comedian

[00:06:05] Is punching

[00:06:06] If there was

[00:06:07] A comedian

[00:06:07] On stage

[00:06:08] Punching

[00:06:09] At any direction

[00:06:10] I'd be like

[00:06:10] That guy's insane

[00:06:11] Anyway

[00:06:12] But to punch

[00:06:13] Up

[00:06:14] Is to take

[00:06:14] A swing

[00:06:15] At power

[00:06:16] But also

[00:06:16] To punch

[00:06:17] Up

[00:06:17] Is to make

[00:06:18] More funny

[00:06:18] Fuck this

[00:06:19] I hate

[00:06:20] This

[00:06:20] Anyway

[00:06:21] That's all

[00:06:21] I have to

[00:06:21] Say about

[00:06:22] That

[00:06:22] Back to the

[00:06:22] Bear

[00:06:22] So one

[00:06:23] Thing about

[00:06:23] The Bear

[00:06:24] That makes

[00:06:24] It really

[00:06:24] Authentic to

[00:06:25] Chicago

[00:06:26] Is that

[00:06:27] There are a lot

[00:06:27] Of parts

[00:06:28] That are not

[00:06:28] Authentic to

[00:06:29] Chicago

[00:06:29] At all

[00:06:30] That people

[00:06:31] Who are in

[00:06:32] Chicago

[00:06:32] Can say

[00:06:32] That's actually

[00:06:33] Not really

[00:06:33] Authentic

[00:06:34] Chicago

[00:06:34] Which if they

[00:06:35] Didn't

[00:06:35] Have that

[00:06:36] If you

[00:06:36] Weren't

[00:06:36] Able

[00:06:37] To be

[00:06:37] Like

[00:06:38] That's

[00:06:39] Not

[00:06:39] Authentically

[00:06:39] Chicago

[00:06:40] Yeah the

[00:06:41] Point of

[00:06:42] The show

[00:06:42] Is so

[00:06:42] People like

[00:06:43] Us can be

[00:06:44] Just

[00:06:44] Fucking awful

[00:06:47] Just real

[00:06:48] Annoying

[00:06:48] Although I

[00:06:48] Will say

[00:06:49] I don't care

[00:06:50] About ketchup

[00:06:50] On hot dogs

[00:06:51] Like

[00:06:52] That's so

[00:06:54] Being offended

[00:06:55] When someone

[00:06:56] Does that

[00:06:57] Like I think

[00:06:57] A Chicago dog

[00:06:58] Should not

[00:06:59] Have ketchup

[00:06:59] But there

[00:07:00] Are places

[00:07:01] I'm thinking

[00:07:02] Of like

[00:07:02] Flubba dub

[00:07:03] Chubs in

[00:07:03] Lakeview

[00:07:04] Where like

[00:07:04] If you

[00:07:05] Get ketchup

[00:07:06] On your dog

[00:07:06] They like

[00:07:07] Take your

[00:07:07] Picture

[00:07:08] And put you

[00:07:08] On like

[00:07:09] The wall

[00:07:09] Of shame

[00:07:10] I do not

[00:07:11] Endorse that

[00:07:12] Behavior

[00:07:12] In general

[00:07:13] I think

[00:07:14] All sort of

[00:07:14] Like

[00:07:15] Behavior

[00:07:16] In which

[00:07:16] One gets

[00:07:17] Fucking huffy

[00:07:19] About stuff

[00:07:20] Other people

[00:07:20] Are eating

[00:07:22] Is simply

[00:07:22] Childish

[00:07:23] And it is

[00:07:24] Embarrassing

[00:07:25] In a big way

[00:07:25] And I've been

[00:07:27] On record

[00:07:28] In saying

[00:07:28] That one such

[00:07:30] Manifestation

[00:07:31] Of that

[00:07:31] Is when

[00:07:32] You

[00:07:33] You declare

[00:07:34] That some food

[00:07:35] You don't like

[00:07:36] Is bad

[00:07:37] Like is terrible

[00:07:38] Like tomatoes

[00:07:39] Are nasty

[00:07:41] It's like

[00:07:41] You are a child

[00:07:42] Like you are a

[00:07:42] Calvinism sense

[00:07:43] Like it has been

[00:07:44] Judged

[00:07:45] You have a

[00:07:46] You have a

[00:07:46] Baby's brain

[00:07:47] You had an

[00:07:48] Opportunity

[00:07:48] To grow

[00:07:48] And learn

[00:07:49] And you

[00:07:49] Decided not

[00:07:50] To

[00:07:50] And as a

[00:07:51] Result

[00:07:51] I think

[00:07:52] Less of you

[00:07:53] And yeah

[00:07:54] I'm sort of

[00:07:54] Of that same

[00:07:55] Mind about

[00:07:55] Like the

[00:07:56] Chicago dog

[00:07:56] Like with

[00:07:57] The ketchup

[00:07:57] I don't care

[00:07:58] I again

[00:07:58] I would

[00:07:59] Say no

[00:08:00] To ketchup

[00:08:01] If it were

[00:08:01] Offered to

[00:08:02] Me

[00:08:02] But at the

[00:08:03] Same time

[00:08:03] The point

[00:08:03] Is it

[00:08:04] Wouldn't

[00:08:04] Fit

[00:08:05] On like

[00:08:06] I mean

[00:08:07] Physically

[00:08:07] It would

[00:08:08] Fit

[00:08:08] Because

[00:08:09] Like the

[00:08:10] Whole thing

[00:08:10] Barely

[00:08:10] Fits

[00:08:11] Physically

[00:08:11] But like

[00:08:12] It's like

[00:08:12] Just like

[00:08:12] An assault

[00:08:13] Of

[00:08:13] It's a

[00:08:14] Fucking

[00:08:15] Tube

[00:08:15] Salad

[00:08:16] Okay

[00:08:17] But like

[00:08:18] If I were

[00:08:18] To get

[00:08:18] Like a

[00:08:19] Costco dog

[00:08:19] And they're

[00:08:20] Like we

[00:08:20] Don't have

[00:08:20] Any relish

[00:08:21] There's

[00:08:22] Just ketchup

[00:08:22] And mustard

[00:08:23] I'm gonna

[00:08:24] Put ketchup

[00:08:24] And mustard

[00:08:25] On the

[00:08:25] Fucking

[00:08:25] Costco dog

[00:08:26] I don't

[00:08:27] Know

[00:08:27] You can

[00:08:27] Kill me

[00:08:28] If you

[00:08:28] Want

[00:08:29] The thing

[00:08:29] About the

[00:08:30] Bear

[00:08:30] Is that

[00:08:31] They play

[00:08:32] R.E.M.

[00:08:34] Half a world

[00:08:34] Away

[00:08:35] Over key

[00:08:36] Scenes

[00:08:36] And they

[00:08:37] Don't

[00:08:37] Cut away

[00:08:38] Like they

[00:08:39] Play the

[00:08:39] Whole song

[00:08:40] Dude

[00:08:40] Half a world

[00:08:41] Away

[00:08:41] Is one of

[00:08:42] The best

[00:08:42] It's so

[00:08:43] Underrated

[00:08:43] When the

[00:08:44] Subtitles

[00:08:45] Say like

[00:08:46] R.E.M.

[00:08:46] Is half a world

[00:08:47] Away

[00:08:47] Is playing

[00:08:48] I just remember

[00:08:49] Thinking

[00:08:50] If I was

[00:08:51] Tom I'd

[00:08:51] Care about

[00:08:52] This more

[00:08:52] Yeah

[00:08:53] Maybe

[00:08:55] The Claire

[00:08:56] And main

[00:08:57] Guy

[00:08:57] Theme

[00:08:58] Is R.E.M.

[00:08:59] Strange

[00:08:59] Currencies

[00:09:01] I'm not

[00:09:02] Going to

[00:09:02] Get into

[00:09:03] What I

[00:09:04] Think about

[00:09:04] The Claire

[00:09:05] Character

[00:09:06] Because for

[00:09:07] Two reasons

[00:09:07] One a lot

[00:09:08] Of people

[00:09:08] Really hate

[00:09:08] Her

[00:09:09] And two

[00:09:09] I don't

[00:09:09] Have anything

[00:09:10] To say

[00:09:10] One way

[00:09:10] Or the

[00:09:10] Other

[00:09:11] I'm

[00:09:11] Totally

[00:09:11] Neutral

[00:09:12] She's

[00:09:13] Just like

[00:09:13] Not in

[00:09:13] The show

[00:09:14] Much

[00:09:14] For season

[00:09:15] Two

[00:09:16] Her

[00:09:17] Character

[00:09:17] Is that

[00:09:18] She's

[00:09:19] A resident

[00:09:20] So she's

[00:09:21] A new

[00:09:23] Kind of

[00:09:23] Like

[00:09:24] How

[00:09:24] Winnie

[00:09:24] And I

[00:09:24] Started

[00:09:25] Dating

[00:09:25] Like

[00:09:26] She was

[00:09:27] At that

[00:09:27] Part

[00:09:27] In her

[00:09:28] Career

[00:09:28] And I

[00:09:28] Was

[00:09:29] Just opening

[00:09:30] Restaurants

[00:09:32] And we

[00:09:33] Just didn't

[00:09:33] See each

[00:09:34] Other

[00:09:34] That much

[00:09:36] Also she

[00:09:37] Was in

[00:09:37] Hyde Park

[00:09:38] Which if

[00:09:38] You know

[00:09:39] Anything

[00:09:39] About

[00:09:39] Chicago

[00:09:41] It's

[00:09:41] It's

[00:09:42] Impossible

[00:09:42] To get

[00:09:43] To

[00:09:45] You

[00:09:45] Of

[00:09:45] C

[00:09:46] Students

[00:09:46] Are evolving

[00:09:47] Differently

[00:09:47] Because they're

[00:09:48] Like

[00:09:48] Isolated

[00:09:49] Yeah

[00:09:49] You know

[00:09:49] How in

[00:09:53] Cavern

[00:09:53] In like

[00:09:54] Noxtella

[00:09:54] The Eternal

[00:09:55] City

[00:09:55] And you

[00:09:56] Have to

[00:09:56] Get into

[00:09:56] That coffin

[00:09:57] And then

[00:09:58] the coffin

[00:09:59] Takes you

[00:09:59] To the

[00:09:59] Lake of

[00:10:00] Rot

[00:10:00] It's like

[00:10:01] And you

[00:10:02] Can only

[00:10:02] Get to

[00:10:02] Noxtella

[00:10:03] By having

[00:10:03] Radon

[00:10:04] Die

[00:10:04] And thus

[00:10:05] The

[00:10:05] Comets

[00:10:06] That he

[00:10:07] Was holding

[00:10:07] At bay

[00:10:07] Smash into

[00:10:08] The earth

[00:10:08] And open

[00:10:10] Up a big

[00:10:10] Hole in

[00:10:11] The ground

[00:10:11] That you

[00:10:11] Can get

[00:10:11] Into

[00:10:12] That's

[00:10:12] How

[00:10:12] You get

[00:10:13] To

[00:10:13] Hyde Park

[00:10:13] Yeah

[00:10:14] It's also

[00:10:15] Where

[00:10:15] Like

[00:10:23] Historic

[00:10:24] Kenwood

[00:10:24] Neighbor

[00:10:25] Whatever

[00:10:26] It's the

[00:10:26] Same

[00:10:26] Shit

[00:10:26] Yeah

[00:10:28] I would

[00:10:29] Just

[00:10:29] To say

[00:10:30] The bear

[00:10:31] The bear

[00:10:32] Is so

[00:10:32] Funny

[00:10:32] Because

[00:10:35] Well

[00:10:35] Do we

[00:10:36] Need to

[00:10:36] Talk

[00:10:37] Authentic

[00:10:37] What's

[00:10:38] Authentic

[00:10:38] Chicago

[00:10:39] And what's

[00:10:39] Not

[00:10:39] Yeah

[00:10:40] Why not

[00:10:40] Give me

[00:10:41] Give me

[00:10:41] Give me

[00:10:41] Some

[00:10:42] Well when

[00:10:43] I look

[00:10:43] At the train

[00:10:43] I hear

[00:10:44] The pixies

[00:10:44] In my

[00:10:44] Head

[00:10:45] That's

[00:10:45] True

[00:10:45] So that

[00:10:47] Part's

[00:10:48] That part's

[00:10:48] Accurate

[00:10:51] I find

[00:10:52] A deep

[00:10:53] Kinship

[00:10:53] In the

[00:10:54] Way people

[00:10:54] Say

[00:10:55] Fucked

[00:10:55] Like

[00:10:55] This is

[00:10:56] Fucked

[00:10:56] This is

[00:10:57] Fucked

[00:10:58] It's like

[00:10:59] Oh it's

[00:10:59] My dad's

[00:11:00] Here

[00:11:00] Yeah

[00:11:00] And I

[00:11:01] The reason

[00:11:02] For that

[00:11:02] Is we

[00:11:03] All

[00:11:03] Came from

[00:11:05] This cursed

[00:11:05] Land

[00:11:06] Yeah

[00:11:06] There's

[00:11:07] The fucking

[00:11:08] Character

[00:11:08] Played by

[00:11:08] Maddie

[00:11:09] Matheson

[00:11:09] Fack

[00:11:10] Who

[00:11:11] A lot

[00:11:12] Of people

[00:11:13] Hate

[00:11:13] Because he's

[00:11:14] Especially in

[00:11:14] Season 3

[00:11:15] He shows

[00:11:15] Up a lot

[00:11:17] But I

[00:11:17] Think that's

[00:11:18] A real

[00:11:18] Type of

[00:11:19] Guy

[00:11:19] He is

[00:11:20] A type

[00:11:20] Of guy

[00:11:21] And not

[00:11:21] Only that

[00:11:22] He is

[00:11:23] Like one

[00:11:23] Guy of

[00:11:24] Like a

[00:11:24] Family of

[00:11:25] I guess

[00:11:25] 20

[00:11:27] And we

[00:11:29] Had

[00:11:30] Growing up

[00:11:31] There was

[00:11:31] A similar

[00:11:32] Thing

[00:11:32] They were

[00:11:33] The gainers

[00:11:33] But they

[00:11:34] Had the

[00:11:34] Same nose

[00:11:35] This happens

[00:11:37] These are

[00:11:39] Permutations

[00:11:40] In nature

[00:11:40] That occur

[00:11:41] Yeah

[00:11:42] One of my

[00:11:42] Buddies

[00:11:42] From grade

[00:11:43] School

[00:11:43] Was like

[00:11:44] From

[00:11:45] Irish

[00:11:46] Catholic

[00:11:46] Family

[00:11:47] And he

[00:11:48] Was something

[00:11:48] Like the

[00:11:48] Oldest

[00:11:49] Of 11

[00:11:49] Like it

[00:11:50] Was

[00:11:50] It was

[00:11:51] A truly

[00:11:51] Like

[00:11:53] Unfathomable

[00:11:54] Number

[00:11:54] The

[00:11:55] Physical

[00:11:55] Toll

[00:11:56] Yeah

[00:11:57] Like how

[00:11:57] Can you do

[00:11:58] That to

[00:11:58] Someone you

[00:11:59] In theory

[00:11:59] Love

[00:12:02] Like

[00:12:02] Like

[00:12:02] Hey dear

[00:12:03] Remember

[00:12:03] Remember

[00:12:04] That

[00:12:04] Thing

[00:12:04] You

[00:12:04] Did

[00:12:05] That

[00:12:05] Was

[00:12:05] So

[00:12:06] Tough

[00:12:06] And

[00:12:07] So

[00:12:07] Hard

[00:12:08] And

[00:12:08] You've

[00:12:08] Also

[00:12:09] Done

[00:12:09] It

[00:12:09] Six

[00:12:09] Times

[00:12:10] And

[00:12:11] It

[00:12:11] Ruined

[00:12:12] Your

[00:12:12] Body

[00:12:12] The

[00:12:12] First

[00:12:12] Time

[00:12:13] And

[00:12:13] Then

[00:12:13] There

[00:12:13] Was

[00:12:13] Five

[00:12:13] Additional

[00:12:14] Times

[00:12:14] Well

[00:12:14] Guess

[00:12:14] What

[00:12:15] We

[00:12:15] Got

[00:12:16] Five

[00:12:16] More

[00:12:16] In

[00:12:16] Store

[00:12:19] I

[00:12:20] Don't

[00:12:20] Know

[00:12:20] Dude

[00:12:20] I

[00:12:20] Mean

[00:12:20] Like

[00:12:21] They

[00:12:21] They

[00:12:21] Weren't

[00:12:22] That

[00:12:22] Family

[00:12:22] Wasn't

[00:12:23] The

[00:12:23] Facts

[00:12:23] Because

[00:12:24] They

[00:12:24] Were

[00:12:24] From

[00:12:24] Wilmette

[00:12:25] So

[00:12:25] They

[00:12:25] Were

[00:12:26] Gentry

[00:12:27] But

[00:12:27] I

[00:12:29] Don't

[00:12:29] Know

[00:12:29] Like

[00:12:29] Cut

[00:12:30] Their

[00:12:30] Net

[00:12:30] Worth

[00:12:30] In

[00:12:30] Half

[00:12:31] And

[00:12:31] Like

[00:12:31] Buddy

[00:12:32] You

[00:12:32] Gotta

[00:12:32] You

[00:12:33] Gotta

[00:12:33] Pass

[00:12:33] All

[00:12:34] The

[00:12:34] Facts

[00:12:34] For

[00:12:34] Sure

[00:12:37] Some

[00:12:37] Shit

[00:12:38] That

[00:12:38] Is

[00:12:38] Not

[00:12:38] Authentic

[00:12:39] Is

[00:12:40] That

[00:12:40] If

[00:12:41] Mr.

[00:12:41] Beef

[00:12:41] Went

[00:12:42] Away

[00:12:42] And

[00:12:43] Got

[00:12:43] Replaced

[00:12:43] With

[00:12:44] A

[00:12:44] Fine

[00:12:44] Dining

[00:12:45] Restaurant

[00:12:45] Like

[00:12:46] That

[00:12:46] Would

[00:12:47] Be

[00:12:47] Like

[00:12:47] People

[00:12:48] Would

[00:12:48] Be

[00:12:48] Really

[00:12:48] Mad

[00:12:49] The

[00:12:50] Fires

[00:12:50] Would

[00:12:51] Still

[00:12:51] Be

[00:12:51] Going

[00:12:52] Also

[00:12:53] Like

[00:12:54] Even

[00:12:54] Before

[00:12:54] The

[00:12:55] Main

[00:12:55] Character

[00:12:56] Like

[00:12:56] Goes

[00:12:56] To

[00:12:57] Mr.

[00:12:57] Beef

[00:12:57] Which

[00:12:57] Is

[00:12:58] Again

[00:12:58] That's

[00:12:58] A

[00:12:58] Real

[00:12:59] Shop

[00:12:59] In

[00:12:59] The

[00:13:00] Same

[00:13:00] Location

[00:13:00] That

[00:13:01] Is

[00:13:01] Fictionalized

[00:13:01] In

[00:13:02] The

[00:13:02] Show

[00:13:03] Even

[00:13:04] Before

[00:13:04] He

[00:13:04] Goes

[00:13:05] There

[00:13:05] Like

[00:13:05] They're

[00:13:05] Like

[00:13:05] Serving

[00:13:06] Like

[00:13:06] Mashed

[00:13:06] Potatoes

[00:13:07] And

[00:13:07] Like

[00:13:07] Spaghetti

[00:13:08] At

[00:13:21] Mr.

[00:13:22] Beef

[00:13:22] And

[00:13:27] Seasonings

[00:13:28] For

[00:13:28] Beef

[00:13:28] And

[00:13:29] I guess

[00:13:29] A key

[00:13:29] Part

[00:13:29] Of

[00:13:30] It

[00:13:30] Is

[00:13:30] That

[00:13:30] You

[00:13:30] Eat

[00:13:30] It

[00:13:31] Over

[00:13:31] Like

[00:13:31] There's

[00:13:32] No

[00:13:32] Chair

[00:13:32] But

[00:13:33] There's

[00:13:33] Like

[00:13:33] A

[00:13:33] Little

[00:13:33] Like

[00:13:34] One

[00:13:35] Inch

[00:13:35] Jut

[00:13:36] Out

[00:13:36] Counter

[00:13:36] That

[00:13:37] You

[00:13:37] Hunch

[00:13:37] Over

[00:13:38] Yep

[00:13:38] Yeah

[00:13:39] That's

[00:13:39] That's

[00:13:40] The

[00:13:40] Stuff

[00:13:40] Love

[00:13:41] That

[00:13:41] Love

[00:13:41] That

[00:13:42] I

[00:13:43] Don't

[00:13:44] Know

[00:13:44] If

[00:13:44] You

[00:13:55] Knowing

[00:13:56] That

[00:13:56] Like

[00:13:56] I'm

[00:13:57] In

[00:13:57] The

[00:13:57] Context

[00:13:57] Of

[00:13:57] The

[00:13:57] Bear

[00:13:58] Which

[00:13:58] Is

[00:13:58] A

[00:13:58] Show

[00:13:58] Where

[00:13:58] Not

[00:13:59] A

[00:13:59] Lot

[00:13:59] Happens

[00:13:59] Period

[00:14:00] In

[00:14:01] Season

[00:14:01] Three

[00:14:01] Nothing

[00:14:02] Fucking

[00:14:02] Happens

[00:14:03] Like

[00:14:04] Even

[00:14:04] In

[00:14:04] Even

[00:14:05] You know

[00:14:06] Calibrating

[00:14:07] For

[00:14:07] The

[00:14:07] Baseline

[00:14:08] Nothing

[00:14:09] Happening

[00:14:09] Of

[00:14:25] God

[00:14:26] And

[00:14:27] So

[00:14:27] All

[00:14:27] The

[00:14:27] Fancy

[00:14:27] People

[00:14:28] Go

[00:14:28] To

[00:14:29] The

[00:14:30] Closing

[00:14:30] Of

[00:14:30] The

[00:14:31] Restaurant

[00:14:32] For

[00:14:32] One

[00:14:32] Final

[00:14:33] Meal

[00:14:33] And

[00:14:33] It's

[00:14:34] All

[00:14:34] Sort

[00:14:34] Of

[00:14:34] Fancy

[00:14:35] Famous

[00:14:35] Real

[00:14:35] Life

[00:14:36] Chefs

[00:14:36] And

[00:14:37] They

[00:14:37] All

[00:14:37] Have

[00:14:37] Like

[00:14:37] A

[00:14:38] Five

[00:14:38] Minute

[00:14:38] Monologue

[00:14:39] Talking

[00:14:39] About

[00:14:40] Like

[00:14:40] How

[00:14:40] What

[00:14:41] I

[00:14:41] Do

[00:14:41] Is

[00:14:41] So

[00:14:41] Meaningful

[00:14:42] And

[00:14:42] So

[00:14:42] Important

[00:14:43] And

[00:14:43] I'm

[00:14:44] Just

[00:14:44] Like

[00:14:44] I'm

[00:14:44] Glad

[00:14:45] They're

[00:14:45] Doing

[00:14:45] This

[00:14:46] And

[00:14:46] Not

[00:14:46] Having

[00:14:47] A

[00:14:47] Character

[00:14:47] Arc

[00:14:48] For

[00:14:48] Fucking

[00:14:48] Anyone

[00:14:49] Do

[00:14:50] You

[00:14:56] Yeah

[00:14:56] This

[00:14:56] Is

[00:14:57] Where

[00:14:57] Like

[00:14:57] In

[00:14:57] The

[00:14:57] Martial

[00:14:58] Arts

[00:14:58] Manga

[00:14:59] The

[00:14:59] Artist

[00:14:59] Is

[00:14:59] Just

[00:15:00] Like

[00:15:00] I

[00:15:00] Don't

[00:15:00] Want

[00:15:00] To

[00:15:00] Fucking

[00:15:01] Draw

[00:15:01] A

[00:15:01] Fight

[00:15:01] I'm

[00:15:02] Just

[00:15:02] Gonna

[00:15:02] Have

[00:15:03] Like

[00:15:04] Fucking

[00:15:05] Baki's

[00:15:05] Dad

[00:15:06] Talk

[00:15:06] About

[00:15:06] How

[00:15:07] Like

[00:15:07] Knowing

[00:15:07] Katas

[00:15:08] Is

[00:15:09] Like

[00:15:09] This

[00:15:10] Is

[00:15:10] How

[00:15:10] You

[00:15:10] Unlock

[00:15:10] The

[00:15:11] Secrets

[00:15:11] Of

[00:15:11] The

[00:15:11] World

[00:15:12] When

[00:15:12] You

[00:15:12] Know

[00:15:13] How

[00:15:13] To

[00:15:13] Hold

[00:15:13] Your

[00:15:14] Arms

[00:15:14] For

[00:15:14] Maximum

[00:15:15] Killing

[00:15:15] You're

[00:15:16] I

[00:15:16] Think

[00:15:17] The

[00:15:18] Baki

[00:15:18] Thing

[00:15:18] I

[00:15:19] Often

[00:15:19] Come

[00:15:19] Back

[00:15:20] To

[00:15:20] Like

[00:15:20] You

[00:15:20] You

[00:15:20] Are

[00:15:20] Pontificating

[00:15:21] About

[00:15:22] Like

[00:15:22] Super

[00:15:22] These

[00:15:23] Are

[00:15:23] The

[00:15:23] Techniques

[00:15:24] You

[00:15:24] Must

[00:15:24] Learn

[00:15:24] But

[00:15:25] The

[00:15:25] Thing

[00:15:25] In

[00:15:25] Baki

[00:15:25] That

[00:15:25] Happens

[00:15:27] That

[00:15:27] I

[00:15:27] Think

[00:15:27] About

[00:15:27] All

[00:15:28] The

[00:15:28] Time

[00:15:28] Is

[00:15:28] Like

[00:15:28] He

[00:15:28] Gets

[00:15:29] His

[00:15:30] Dad

[00:15:30] Throws

[00:15:31] Him

[00:15:31] Down

[00:15:31] A

[00:15:31] Rocky

[00:15:32] Mountain

[00:15:32] But

[00:15:33] Like

[00:15:34] He

[00:15:34] Parries

[00:15:35] Every

[00:15:36] Like

[00:15:37] Stumble

[00:15:38] Like

[00:15:38] So

[00:15:38] Yeah

[00:15:39] It's

[00:15:40] So

[00:15:40] Fucking

[00:15:40] Funny

[00:15:42] So

[00:15:42] Funny

[00:15:46] Holy

[00:15:47] Moly

[00:15:47] The

[00:15:48] Bear

[00:15:48] Is

[00:15:48] Good

[00:15:49] It

[00:15:49] Really

[00:15:49] To

[00:15:50] Get

[00:15:50] Season

[00:15:51] Four

[00:15:51] I

[00:15:52] Think

[00:15:52] So

[00:15:52] The

[00:15:52] Part

[00:15:52] Of

[00:15:53] I

[00:15:53] Think

[00:15:53] Part

[00:15:53] Of

[00:15:53] It

[00:15:53] Was

[00:15:53] That

[00:15:54] Like

[00:15:54] They

[00:15:54] Season

[00:15:55] Three

[00:15:55] They

[00:15:55] Were

[00:15:55] Getting

[00:15:56] So

[00:15:56] Into

[00:15:57] Like

[00:15:57] We're

[00:15:57] Getting

[00:15:57] So

[00:15:57] Much

[00:15:58] Good

[00:15:58] Footage

[00:15:58] We

[00:15:59] Gotta

[00:15:59] Stretch

[00:15:59] This

[00:16:00] Because

[00:16:00] There's

[00:16:00] Like

[00:16:00] A

[00:16:00] Lot

[00:16:01] Of

[00:16:01] Episodes

[00:16:01] That

[00:16:13] Like

[00:16:13] Living

[00:16:13] It

[00:16:13] Man

[00:16:13] Like

[00:16:14] They

[00:16:14] Are

[00:16:14] These

[00:16:14] People

[00:16:15] I

[00:16:15] Can

[00:16:15] Understand

[00:16:16] The

[00:16:17] You

[00:16:17] Know

[00:16:17] You

[00:16:18] Would

[00:16:18] Want

[00:16:18] To

[00:16:18] Like

[00:16:19] Let's

[00:16:19] Put

[00:16:19] That

[00:16:19] In

[00:16:20] The

[00:16:20] Show

[00:16:20] And

[00:16:20] Stretch

[00:16:21] This

[00:16:21] Season

[00:16:21] Into

[00:16:22] Two

[00:16:22] But

[00:16:22] If

[00:16:22] Season

[00:16:23] Four

[00:16:23] Doesn't

[00:16:23] Come

[00:16:23] Out

[00:16:23] Soon

[00:16:24] And

[00:16:24] Have

[00:16:24] Actual

[00:16:24] Things

[00:16:25] Happen

[00:16:25] In

[00:16:25] It

[00:16:25] I'm

[00:16:26] Going to

[00:16:26] Be

[00:16:26] Off

[00:16:27] Them

[00:16:27] I'm

[00:16:27] Getting

[00:16:27] Off

[00:16:28] The

[00:16:28] Bear

[00:16:28] Train

[00:16:28] I'm

[00:16:28] Getting

[00:16:29] Off

[00:16:29] The

[00:16:43] dude not a chance it's like a big screensaver for me it's like here's the stuff outside yeah

[00:16:50] remember when you went around this you've seen some of this uh like there is a fucking early

[00:16:58] in season three there's just a montage of like here's some like you've heard about food right

[00:17:05] like you know food well here is in chicago some of that and they just do a month and it's just

[00:17:13] show it's like you know the fucking meme of the the ms paint like 30 year old consumer yes yeah

[00:17:21] it's like i recognize that who and everyone's like fools you watch marvel movies and go like this

[00:17:28] what you should do is you watch the chicago food montage of the bear and you go oh it's red hot ranch

[00:17:37] can we talk about we went to we went to can we talk about i went to the wrong one

[00:17:42] i kept telling joe so let's meet there at 12 30 it's right by the western blue line so you get on

[00:17:49] the blue line you get up at western it's right there it's like right on the western blue line

[00:17:53] so i'm gonna walk there to the western blue line and then we'll meet there and then we can walk home

[00:17:58] to my house and hang out so i'll see you at the western blue line and i get there and i walked up to

[00:18:04] red hot ranch exactly at 12 30 i'm like oh my god incredible i see that joe has gotten a cab he's like

[00:18:11] god something's wrong with the blue line i'm just gonna get a cab and i'm like it's fucked yeah i mean

[00:18:15] i can't say that it's not and he's like i'm here and i look around no and i'm like did you go to the

[00:18:23] one that's not by the western blue line two things here is that the second location isn't even that

[00:18:31] far from the first which is wild i don't understand how that works and the reason like the 100 reason

[00:18:39] why i went to that other one is i was like western blue line i saw it was by a blue line station i did

[00:18:46] not look further than the fact that it was a blue line station and i hit go yeah i thought like uh the

[00:18:55] day's fucking shot like i'm just gonna turn back i'm not even gonna get a lunch for myself i'm just no

[00:19:00] it's like a block away i don't know five minutes later joe was there like what the shit why too like

[00:19:06] they would be eating into each other's business but i don't know the ring about red hot ranch

[00:19:12] that's really yummy i liked my burger they do smash burgers yeah this is the term this anyway so

[00:19:20] how would you describe it it's like you have a regular burger and then you just kind of work

[00:19:26] through some things on it and you make it yeah like a smash burger looks like a growth you have

[00:19:31] to get checked out it has a very uneven edges it's scary i mean the smash burger is you watch alton

[00:19:40] brown and he says oh the my yard reaction is a chemical reaction when you sear meat that creates

[00:19:48] a delicious flavor yummy make sure you sear your steaks that's not what alton brown sounds no but

[00:19:55] he's a muppet in in theory like in his soul that's what he he is he feels like i should say uh so basically

[00:20:04] a smash burger is like what if we made the entire meat that and there wasn't an inside like it's just

[00:20:11] all out uh and so yeah you just you work you work out you need to have been yelled at by your parents

[00:20:19] in order to smash the appropriate smash and make it yeah they just took gta away okay yeah oh my god

[00:20:28] they heard about the hot coffee mod and they think it's they think it's the sex game they think that's

[00:20:33] all you do in it so not only is it away but they think less of you uh it's very good it's it's very

[00:20:40] funny because it's called red hot ranch it's got a big hot dog on it but like own you only get the

[00:20:46] burger even says on the website like red hot ranch was open as a hot dog sap and we went to the the

[00:20:53] owner and chef went to california to go on a trip and we had an in and out burger and we like we

[00:20:58] should make a burger like this but better and so we did and then all of a sudden our fucking

[00:21:03] business tripled and now that's what we do is the burger like you can still get a hot dog but

[00:21:08] you're a dumb bitch if you do uh it was good i there is this like fancy ass omakase restaurant

[00:21:16] that is right by red hot ranch that's like 400 a seat where like you like the guy like the chef is

[00:21:23] like right there and he's like talking to you all night and you're eating for like five hours i don't

[00:21:28] want that level because like at that point it's the fucking mr show like i'm gonna shit in a box

[00:21:34] underneath the fancy dining uh chair thing the guy will take away my leavings like there's just too

[00:21:40] much too much customer service at a certain point to me makes me uncomfortable because it's like

[00:21:47] can i free you like is there a phrase i have to say i mean i'm afraid of going both because of uh

[00:21:53] i don't have 800 to drop for me and my wife to have uh dinner but also like the thing about omakase is

[00:22:01] like yeah it's like oh it's the fuck i don't know what it is in japanese but it's something to the

[00:22:05] effect of like the chef's choice the whole point is that like you are so confident in the chef's

[00:22:11] abilities that like anything you decide is the right thing to eat is so much more uh wise than what i

[00:22:18] think is the right thing to eat and it's like well i know from sushi they're gonna try to give me

[00:22:23] that omelet and they're gonna try to give me shellfish and i'm gonna have to say uh like i don't want to

[00:22:30] eat this thing that represents like 70 dollars of my money because i think it's ooky can you take it

[00:22:37] away please and like i'll get yelled at anyway the point being that guy did a ama on reddit like

[00:22:44] it's you know asked me about my delicious food and they said what's your favorite restaurant in chicago

[00:22:50] and he says red hot ranch it's like it's next door to me i've eaten at red hot ranch more than any

[00:22:57] other restaurant in chicago by like a mile it's the best it looks like shit inside the right way

[00:23:03] i'm not saying it looks like shit but the ways in which it looks shabby you like you know this is the

[00:23:11] real deal yeah it looks like their refrigerators work which that's like the thing that actually

[00:23:17] matters like if it's like if if the meat is actually like cold before then like we're good

[00:23:24] it's gonna be fine but then like everything else it looks the decor is terrible the layout is

[00:23:30] terrible like they couldn't have thought of a worse way to lay out that interior uh it's just useless

[00:23:38] to be in and then so you sit outside on these little uh picnic tables which are all directly

[00:23:45] underneath the blue line tracks so you can't do shit there's a mystery liquid uh and it's truly a

[00:23:51] mystery because sometimes it'll give you a buff uh it's the pills from binding of isaac yeah yeah

[00:23:58] when it gives you a buff it's train piss when it gives you a nerf this train come uh yeah you can't

[00:24:05] tell the difference it's you can't speak at all like if if tom is in front of you like an inch from you

[00:24:14] speaking and the train starts no what happens is your skull just shakes and then the the train come

[00:24:22] gets in your eye yeah if you're trying to speak when the train goes overhead not only are you not

[00:24:28] getting anything done hearing wise but like you can't have your mouth open during that process because

[00:24:35] like even if it doesn't happen like it's so it's gonna happen you know why allow it to happen there's a

[00:24:43] place that i don't think as as good as red hot ranch uh it's byron's on the north side on irving

[00:24:49] park and sheffield by the uh sheridan red line it's like it's just a hut it's one of it's just like

[00:24:56] how is this technically a structure it looks like dude you know what it looks like it looks like if you

[00:25:01] took one of the squares from a tetris piece made it three-dimensional and put it on the ground

[00:25:07] like that's like it's just like surely no one built a building like that like that can't be allowed

[00:25:15] yeah and it's on a a parking lot that is like bears the value uh but it's also right under the red

[00:25:24] line train uh it it grumbles my favorite byron's thing that's happened is i was uh there with my

[00:25:32] my buddy uh and roommate at the time mike uh and we were getting and he's like i would like a burger

[00:25:38] and the woman was like she asked like hey do you want blank and like sometimes you just agree okay

[00:25:46] you just agree like you just agreed then he gets it she put a whole gyro on the burger like yes like

[00:25:55] gyro meat yes uh and it was just like that realization of just like communication broke down in a very

[00:26:01] interesting way here i mean okay that's great because one of the few things in we'll met that

[00:26:07] isn't like awful it's actually gotten cool now which is so fucked like it's not like the shitty

[00:26:14] suburb that i grew up in is not allowed to have good things in it like 10 years after i've gone

[00:26:21] forever 10 jesus christ i'm so old 10 years ago i was like out of we'll met for six years already

[00:26:29] anyway uh it can't get good but the point being the one thing that was good is that there was

[00:26:34] a hole in the wall like like filth hole that was like a truly disgusting grease pit run by an old old

[00:26:44] greek man who uh disdained in a huge way his clientele of almost exclusively grade schoolers um

[00:26:52] but the thing there was the nikki special that was a fucking cheeseburger with like enormous pile of

[00:27:00] gyro meat on it and i knew about that like i was eating that like sort of before i was even fully

[00:27:04] cognizant that like most burgers didn't have gyro on them uh and you thought it was like lettuce in

[00:27:12] terms of normalcy yeah yeah i mean i mean i say and i assume mike roommate mike would agree it tastes

[00:27:21] fucking good speaking of things tasting fucking good so if you really want an authentic chicago dog

[00:27:28] experience both if you're like a chicagoan and you're just like i want i it's been a while since

[00:27:33] i had a chicago dog where am i gonna go or if you're a tourist uh my in-laws were here and i really

[00:27:39] i was like if they want if they express interest in a chicago dog i'm taking them here they didn't

[00:27:45] because my mother-in-law doesn't eat beef so there you go uh but my plan was if there was any interest

[00:27:52] i'd be like well i'm gonna take you to the authentic place where you're gonna get a real

[00:27:56] chicago dog best tasting version you'll ever have in your life which is the little aluminum hell cube

[00:28:03] after checkout at home depot depot dogs tom and i went uh i've eaten a lot of chicago dogs

[00:28:09] that's on the same level like i mean like it's it's like sound design like it's you notice it when

[00:28:16] it's bad but like when it's when it's good it's a it's a warm bath it's fine here's the thing folks

[00:28:23] chicago dogs the ingredients are really well publicized and like it's not like someone's using heirloom tomatoes

[00:28:32] on this like it's they're all the same you know the few things that you can sort of like whiff on is not

[00:28:39] having a vienna beef brand sausage as your hot dog but they do so like i don't know if you have the

[00:28:48] little aluminum trays full of all the fucking components it's gonna taste exactly the same

[00:28:53] anywhere i've had a lot of chicago dogs from a lot of places they taste the fucking same i'm sorry i love

[00:28:58] them all people say people that are like portillo's has fallen off since they were bought by fucking

[00:29:03] like berkshire hathaway or whatever vc company owns them now like they fall off they've really cut

[00:29:09] corners on the food quality and it's bad now tastes the fucking same folks it's the fucking same so

[00:29:14] knowing that as joe said is like as long as you don't fuck up it's gonna taste great and also the

[00:29:19] same so what's left is the x factors of like at super dog the x factor is it's a fucking drive-thru and

[00:29:27] you're sitting in your car and someone brought it up to you after you ordered out over the worst

[00:29:31] microphone on earth fun you think about going steady with a lady yeah uh and the x factor at the home

[00:29:38] depot is that you just went to home depot and then again there's a hell cube made out of aluminum that a

[00:29:45] person is trapped in and you can go up to them and be like chicago dog please and they have to give you

[00:29:51] one and the one we went to like the hell cube was it in between the two sets of automatic doors was this

[00:29:59] person in such a state of purgatory yep they were automatic doors to the left and right i can imagine

[00:30:05] that in the winter that feels bad what why were we there what did oh neem oil yeah your your tomatoes

[00:30:15] are getting bit yeah they're getting bit by aphids they'll probably be fine uh i looked at it up and

[00:30:21] it's like tomatoes can handle aphid bites generally as long as it's not like a massive infestation which

[00:30:27] it's not because of the neem oil now although it's so fuck like i i cannot clear them out because it's

[00:30:33] like in order for neem oil to work you must simply cover 100 of the surface area of the plant every day

[00:30:40] for seven days and it's like well these tomato plants are like five feet fucking tall and have a

[00:30:46] lot of leaves uh like i'm gonna miss some of them uh so yeah that's where i'm at what were we talking

[00:30:55] about fucking eating dinner oh it was the chicago dog and you were talking about the x factors the

[00:31:02] other the other thing i would like to add to that is like the standard expectations on a chicago dog

[00:31:08] yes they're all they're all pretty similar where there actually is variable i feel like it's in

[00:31:14] the celery salt i feel like that's the the the thing um because i've definitely had uh it with

[00:31:21] when the pickles are just like dorito dusted which to be clear kicks ass yeah extra dust version

[00:31:29] yeah i mean that's really the thing extra dust on almost all applications is gonna elevate

[00:31:37] um i wonder if that's like just a luck like a like a good and bad luck thing like because i mean

[00:31:43] they're just shaking it just depends on if the person's shaking is gonna shake for an extra sugar

[00:31:47] nut this is just like what people all the tiktokers are doing to chipotle where they bring like a camera

[00:31:53] crew and if they get like one bean less than they think is appropriate like they're like folks all 10

[00:32:00] million of my subscribers please look at this man memorize his face and kill him at this if you see him

[00:32:05] on the street he's one of the big bitches he works here yeah like this is yeah oh god have i if i

[00:32:12] yammered at you about how you need to go to best intentions yet talk about a good burger yummy yes i

[00:32:18] i know you have yammered at me because like you've brought it up a few times like oh maybe we go to

[00:32:24] best intention like oh yeah that wouldn't work like like you you bring it up before you think of the

[00:32:28] logistics sometimes you're just like so excited at the idea that like maybe we can go get that burger

[00:32:32] so i've had a lot of burgers i'm excited about this one uh tell me like what has you doing the

[00:32:40] wolf head pounding on the table three things one it's six dollars so many burgers are like twelve

[00:32:49] dollars fifteen dollars eighteen dollars this motherfucker is six dollars i'm sorry folks but

[00:32:55] like that alone and there's a lot of possible faults that i'm gonna overlook for it being six

[00:33:03] dollars two it's got this delicious sauce that is like mayo with curry powder that they make there

[00:33:11] they also give you a little tub of it if you order fries and uh if you're someone who hears mayo and curry

[00:33:19] powder and goes yuck well i'm sorry i'm sad that you have to be that way in the same way that i'm sad

[00:33:25] that i hear about eggs and go yuck it's a shame for both of us uh but this goo is like out of this

[00:33:31] world delicious uh i could eat like i could like lick it up out of the fucking tub raw and i would like

[00:33:40] it and they put it on the burger um three it's got they cook it with the onions they still they do the

[00:33:45] smash burger and i know this because kevin and i got some of these on a weekend afternoon because

[00:33:49] they open at 11 on weekends so he went and he got burgers for lunch and i looked because there's no

[00:33:53] one else and i looked into the kitchen and they smashed the smash burger they put the onions on it

[00:33:58] and then they put like a fucking thingy they put like a dome like a dome they put a cover over it and

[00:34:05] it steams with the onions like from fucking white castle uh all right and those three things

[00:34:12] combine them yummy time for for everyone uh the only problem is like well not the only problem

[00:34:19] so i'm having my siblings come over to see the new new in quotes condo uh new to them they haven't been

[00:34:26] yet uh and as they do this it's like i'll bring my kids and where we get let's go out for dinner let's

[00:34:31] have dinner and it's like where the fuck can i bring like seven people four of them being kids

[00:34:35] and it's like oh let's go to fucking best intention we'll have the burgers except no it's a bar

[00:34:40] like it is a bar like they card you immediately when you enter the door no matter what you look

[00:34:46] like so we can't bring the fucking kid and it's like that's so bullshit because like the only other

[00:34:51] place near me that like i could bring seven people is this place that is mid as hell remember how i

[00:34:57] said oh some burgers are like 18 well you know how i fucking know this place blah anyway that's my

[00:35:03] story i'm trying to get people to go to fucking best intentions yummy it's good to me it's yummy

[00:35:08] i had i went there for my birthday and i had the reuben they have a big ass reuben uh it's called

[00:35:14] the huge reuben on the menu and they like make the they like corn the corned beef there with like

[00:35:21] their own brine and it's so fucking good it's like you can tell that like you're shaving a full year

[00:35:27] off of your heart's uh operational range but like so worth it this is such good uh audio for everyone

[00:35:35] to hear especially those who aren't in chicago i will talk about food all the time you don't have

[00:35:41] to be in chicago to hear the thing i want to do uh dear listener i told tom this is uh there was a

[00:35:49] wttw show uh it was called that's our like public access yeah are you talking about check please yes and

[00:35:58] i want to take the audio from that and because it's like always three people reviewing a restaurant

[00:36:04] so i want to just like cut two of them out and put us in them then there's one with obama

[00:36:11] which would be wonderful uh and i was thinking like the one of the runners for that would have been

[00:36:18] he brings up stuff that's like not on topic like he's saying stuff he said in the recording but we're

[00:36:23] like we're not talking about that man you can't even follow the conversation yeah he'd be like i love

[00:36:27] i love the cajun food here it's like this is an italian restaurant idiot like what do you talk cajun

[00:36:32] food shut up this is why no one likes your your legacy another chicago thing that is not food related

[00:36:41] but will probably have headline related news is just the the dnc is uh gonna be here uh i saw the

[00:36:52] street closures map uh and it reminded me of the episode of the simpsons when the meteor

[00:36:57] is uh hitting and it's like moe's bar yeah i was like oh fuck uh that's gonna be fun yeah i don't

[00:37:06] i don't know uh what's gonna happen i'm gonna get black bag just because i'm like taking out my trash

[00:37:12] i love how every time like i didn't know who josh shapiro was period i had never heard of that guy

[00:37:20] and now every time i learn a new fact about like how extremely conservative he is uh how he wrote an

[00:37:28] op-ed in college about how like arabs have too much their passive ability their battle stat is too high

[00:37:35] yes yeah their aggro range is too high yeah it's very their passive abilities that like every time they get

[00:37:41] to a battle like they it's as though they have first strike even if they were attacked first uh which

[00:37:48] normally the attacker would get a first strike so because of that it's irrational for them to not be

[00:37:53] constantly in battle because that would make their passive less efficient you have to be in battle as much as

[00:37:57] possible and because of that they uh cannot be trusted with the state and it's just like okay cool man uh

[00:38:04] and then like fucking fetterman the ogre it's like this guy's a little too a little too conservative

[00:38:11] for me it's like you love being conservative it's your favorite thing he he's really had some

[00:38:17] some real dingers lately uh him putting on the suit for bb was so funny just like a perfect end to

[00:38:25] his like oh his deal yeah putting on a suit makes me so depressed that i have to go

[00:38:31] to uh institution because the suit made me so sad it made me feel like i wasn't myself

[00:38:36] but if like a big time like genocide guys coming around well okay okay i understand that this suit

[00:38:43] is appropriate for this yeah you wouldn't want to seem disrespectful uh man if he's saying like i

[00:38:49] don't know this is a bit much and his thing is he keeps getting head injuries and becomes more

[00:38:53] reactionary i love that it's so like a fred flintstone but instead of like becoming like a fun race

[00:39:01] car driver it's just new bad beliefs about palestinians a race war driver uh i guess

[00:39:12] pretend i didn't say that folks that wasn't that funny um but anyway all of this is to say the more

[00:39:17] i learned about josh shapiro and how awful he is the more i'm like sure he's gonna be he's a prosecutor

[00:39:24] too right or i don't know maybe i mean kamala's a prosecutor i feel like that's too much you can't have

[00:39:30] double yeah that's like that's like on veep when uh fucking elaine is running for president and

[00:39:36] they're like do you who's gonna be your vp maybe a woman she's like two women what the

[00:39:40] fuck america doesn't deserve that uh veep is that that's another thing this entire situation that

[00:39:48] we're living through is like pure veep like this is exactly a veep plot i haven't seen veep but the

[00:39:54] show is constructed in such a way that like the actions of potus are like uh like distant always

[00:40:01] right like yes potus is never shown on screen i mean he also like midway through the series potus

[00:40:06] becomes like irrelevant like he like resigns so like half this half it's basically this it's like it

[00:40:12] again this is what like potus poof goes away and then like suddenly the veep who has been like a

[00:40:18] vestigial useless nothing is like fuck do i have to like win like do i have to do things now oh shit

[00:40:27] uh like it's exactly this but to answer your question like yes even without even when potus goes away

[00:40:34] and is not a character anymore like it is very much like the entire structure of the show and the plots

[00:40:40] is that like it feels like a smiling friends world we're just like anything can happen at any time

[00:40:47] that you live in a world of total chaos where nothing can be planned for more than a second in advance

[00:40:54] uh and anything that you think is the case will be completely reversed in two seconds by uh forces you

[00:41:03] don't understand so that's uh i think uh 30 rock has that energy too which is why i love it as much

[00:41:12] is there's just like that very they're fine being cartoon people anything's on the table like jenna

[00:41:18] will just show up and say like here's what i'm doing this week and you're just like fuck okay

[00:41:23] why not so we can switch to parenting for a second like which i am doing flawlessly uh everything is s rank

[00:41:32] no issues uh my my ivan my sweet sweet baby he's been upset before babies get upset i i would not say

[00:41:41] until recently he has been like explicitly acutely scared uh like i mean like scooby-doo like fear like

[00:41:52] you saw a ghost and you are shaking uh and it recently happened uh and it was because of my own actions

[00:42:01] and i could feel my heart turned to human shit uh what happened is we got a knockoff roomba because

[00:42:07] we have cats and he's roaming a lot so we're like all right well that'll help with the stray litter a

[00:42:12] little bit yeah makes sense he loves like the normal vacuum he likes loud machines he's a little kid

[00:42:20] yeah he likes the dust buster when i turned on the knockoff roomba and it left the charging station

[00:42:29] at like 0.0000001 miles per hour uh he reacted probably like the way that guy who saw a movie for

[00:42:42] the first time it's like the train's coming right for us he was coming right for him and uh he he was

[00:42:48] in his like play pen so he was like in jail like grabbing the bars as he like freaks and does this

[00:42:57] and i i immediately feel awful uh because like obviously he's kind of in distress and i i look i

[00:43:03] look to winnie expecting like obviously she's gonna be like oh oh no no uh uh i look over at winnie and

[00:43:10] she's doing like a hank hill chuckle about it which which was so fun uh i mean i'm kind i'm kind of

[00:43:19] with both of you on this so like what's he scared of what does he think's gonna happen i mean could it

[00:43:26] be he was shaking though i've never like it was uh because i he's at the stage where he's they call

[00:43:33] it cruising which is like unfortunate uh but that's when they stand and like move along something

[00:43:40] they're leaning against like a table or whatever so like so he's doing that all the time in his

[00:43:45] playpen so when he starts shaking he's like moving left and right as he's like uh scared of

[00:43:52] skeletons type shaking and it's just it was just so uh it's very it was a little much uh and it made

[00:44:02] me feel that i mean like is there a way you can sort of exposure therapy to it to him like you you pick

[00:44:09] him up he feels safe and then starts going and you like put your foot in front of the robot and it's

[00:44:13] like look ivan i don't it didn't hurt it didn't hurt or is it just like this is like this is satan

[00:44:19] like this is a big demon who's in your house he's gonna hate forever like i don't know like

[00:44:25] the workaround has been i have just scheduled to run when he is not going to be on that floor and won't

[00:44:31] see it okay but uh like if i try it again and he has that same reaction you're gonna feel like

[00:44:38] well the part of my heart that isn't human shit will have completely converted into human shit

[00:44:45] okay okay he's gonna be like afraid of frisbees later and he's gonna be like i just don't

[00:44:51] understand why i have this phobia frisbees it doesn't make sense like i hate that game tribes

[00:44:57] oh yeah i'll be like ivan i need to play you some prog rock on vinyl and i'll like pull out a

[00:45:05] fucking lp and he'll go no uh well he'll do that in general and then he'll see the disc and go no

[00:45:16] uh fuck uh god damn i'm i i want to run this by you as like should i do this so in a couple of

[00:45:24] saturdays from now there is a final fantasy 7 symphony concert at 3 30 p.m that i am going to

[00:45:30] i have tickets i have had them for months um i later learned last week that on that same day at

[00:45:38] 7 30 four hours later so you could go to both at the empty bottle in chicago illinois there is going

[00:45:46] to be like a five hour long video game music concert extravaganza with five acts the headliner of which

[00:45:55] is a jazz fusion band that only plays chrono trigger music so like am i going to both is that

[00:46:04] what i'm gonna do should i do that have you ever been more micro targeted like this is disgusting

[00:46:10] this is fucking disgusting i dude it's like and yeah and then guess what uh the the venture

[00:46:18] brothers guys they got their journals there you can just read them and tim robinson will be there and

[00:46:25] he's gonna say if anyone's got a real a podcast with a great energy i'm i'm free i'd and i'd love

[00:46:33] to be on it i empty bottles not large right like it's beat kitchen did i say empty bottle because i've

[00:46:40] never been to beat kitchen so i have no fucking clue if they're only playing chrono trigger that means

[00:46:47] so okay my concern is that there isn't another jazz fusion band because if you're playing video

[00:46:55] game music and you're doing jazz you have to do uh magical sound shower which is the outrun theme

[00:47:03] uh it's just fucking rad sega actually has like an in-house band and would you believe it that's

[00:47:09] mainly that's kind of like what they do mostly uh i mean i don't know dude that's just one of all

[00:47:16] that i know is that one of the five groups is the kingdom of zeal the jazz fusion chrono trigger

[00:47:22] band we'll see i have heard there's a guy on youtube i watch who made the argument that like

[00:47:27] video game music uh is like jazz bands playing video game music is not should not be considered

[00:47:33] like a goofy thing or like a nerd uh pandering because he's like well what what are jazz musicians

[00:47:42] playing normally like what are these standards that yeah total garbage confusing what the fuck i

[00:47:48] mean it's all no what it is is it's all like fucking show tunes from what was like the popular shows of

[00:47:53] the 20s and 30s and like also like the whole jazz thing it's like you're feeding the video game music

[00:48:00] through the jazz machine right it's exactly and it's like the yes because like you know these fucking

[00:48:05] show tunes weren't written as jazz tunes it's just that like the the bands are like we need to play

[00:48:11] a melody that people are going to be like i know what that is and then we'll do our fucking solos and

[00:48:16] shit they need their input like yes yeah yeah yeah transform it what like so the whole point of like

[00:48:22] why is there a standard is like there's a popular song that everyone knows and because everyone knows

[00:48:27] it everyone in the band can fucking improvise over it and like in what sense does bob on battlefield

[00:48:33] not fit that criteria like hell like why not like it's not it's not embarrassing it's not stupid of

[00:48:44] course the people who like video game music exclusively they're kind of stupid but i would

[00:48:50] say that if anyone who likes any type of music exclusively this video game you just just has a

[00:48:53] stink on it because you know you've met those people you know what is the best fucking boss music

[00:48:58] of any game in my opinion legend of mana uh the regular boss music is just like this very heavy

[00:49:09] i guess metal it's just like just a case of like this is too hard like why you're really going for it

[00:49:18] i love did you ever see that post from a composer who like responded to some post that was like

[00:49:26] the music in this game did not have to go this hard and he responded he's like actually

[00:49:33] like capcom is really strict about the kind of soundtracks that they'll approve it did have to go

[00:49:38] that hard otherwise they wouldn't have paid me oh the name of the boss music is pain the universe

[00:49:46] oh hell yeah i love that pain the universe there's the fucking um i played live alive the uh

[00:49:55] the remake of that game i didn't care much for it i felt like it didn't live i enjoyed hearing

[00:50:01] about the caveman part yeah yeah yeah but it came in it's a story of how a caveman invented

[00:50:07] nutting no he invented talking because he nutted and he had to go like yahoo he'd apologize

[00:50:16] uh yeah i don't know what that stuff is i don't know how that came out of there this

[00:50:20] never happened before uh anyway there's like the boss theme megalomania which obviously is

[00:50:28] extremely similar to the uh and toby fox has i believe said as much like publicly and without

[00:50:36] without shame that megalovania the classic track from undertale that all the fucking trumbler kids make

[00:50:43] tiktoks of where they want to fuck the skeleton is like that's like a basically just a riff off of

[00:50:49] megalomania and as much as i didn't like live alive every time there was a boss fight and that

[00:50:56] fucking shit started playing i'm just like oh yes like this is what games this is like why else make

[00:51:04] video games than to have this kind of like bullshit beep boop music just going nutty i love it so the

[00:51:13] other the other thing that i've been doing this is this is new for me this is new for me uh i'm taking

[00:51:20] care of myself oh fuck yeah i know right uh i have a joe covery plan tell me more well basically it kind

[00:51:29] of comes back to the central thing we had discussed before when we were like sort of a creative rut which

[00:51:35] was just like we're not watching anything there's nothing being put into our brains like there's no input

[00:51:41] happening yeah and one of the issues is as i was so burnt out and just fucking cooked i can't put

[00:51:48] the inputs in therefore no new goo happens and i continue to feel stagnant or whatever yeah so just

[00:51:58] getting back on this means like watching stuff that's why like finishing severance was nice because

[00:52:04] it was like both good in the context of the episode i liked it but then it had like the okay

[00:52:11] i rode the bike feeling yeah like i like i am able to like follow a plot line and engage with themes

[00:52:18] and and if you're like you really have trouble watching tv show you sound like uh one of them uh

[00:52:24] the pussies uh the the thing is i was so i was so burnt out folks i was just like working all the time

[00:52:33] uh not really sleeping up very early uh have a kid uh just insane at base level um and other stuff but

[00:52:43] anyway the other thing that uh i've been trying to do is like do you ever read about how when steve jobs

[00:52:50] died like they just like left his office because like everyone was like oh i don't want to touch it

[00:52:56] like uh i'm kind of doing the same thing with uh my current office like i'm letting the bad spirits

[00:53:02] get out of it i've only used it for recording this and then if we could talk in not serious magical

[00:53:12] terms but i was like i must take back this psychic space what would do that what would be on yes monster

[00:53:19] train what would honor who i am and like cleanse this space monster train so i played a few games

[00:53:24] of monster train uh i i like literally had have not played a video game in a long long time with the

[00:53:31] exception of like maybe uh an auto roguelike but i wouldn't even finish those i'd just be like i want

[00:53:37] to sleep instead uh so monster train is still so fucking good so you mentioned there's a new race

[00:53:44] i don't know that who am them okay so they have an expansion uh and that is the

[00:53:53] where you get the race they are called wormkin oh yes yeah that shit rules uh i like everything about

[00:54:03] them thematically mechanically i don't love what i'm about to explain but generally so like their thing

[00:54:09] is they are heavy into uh consumables like as in like they like their cards that are consumed on use

[00:54:19] and they have shit that like does things when they get consumed uh and ways to get your consumables

[00:54:26] back that sort of thing beautiful it seems very in line not in line but of a variation on theme

[00:54:33] with the candle people where the candle people the people burn down and come back but this seems like

[00:54:38] the worms they're they're like their treats burn down and come back yeah okay so this is where

[00:54:45] things get a little complicated uh i i think they're fun to play but i think they're a little

[00:54:50] too much by half for this reason so you know how you get cards like in your fucking game like you get

[00:54:57] a deck of however many uh when you play the wormkin or have them as your allied class

[00:55:03] just a set number of your cards are like covered in like purple ass crystals and what that means is

[00:55:12] when you play that card that has purple ass crystals and it's the like the card is unchanged it's the

[00:55:18] same it's a card like it would be anything else but it's just got these fucking purple crystals

[00:55:22] what happens then is that room gets like a power gem and then uh the power gems make things nutty like

[00:55:32] the tag power based on how much is powered up in the room and then they have a mechanic called

[00:55:37] extract which removes gems to do like crazy shit uh and i mean i'm talking here in gems i don't see

[00:55:45] the problem yet are you gonna hit me with the twist yeah the twist is that the gems are tedious

[00:55:49] gems must be good and fun and and not a cognitive burden uh they just don't it's just a little too much

[00:55:59] like you're keeping track of too much shit what if i called it a totem and it was a little like

[00:56:05] wooden post if it was just one yes uh because like the other thing that is like happening is like i

[00:56:14] don't know how many slots a room has of gems like i think it's like either four or five you can fill

[00:56:19] it up all the way like you have eight but like with the turn ends it would go down to four so you're

[00:56:23] also playing with a lot of temporary capacity and then i played the candle people and it's like okay

[00:56:31] so this is like the most perfect design faction any fucking video game that has ever been made

[00:56:36] i don't know if you know this but the main champion is a 50 50 who costs zero and like the they in the

[00:56:45] expansion they must have added additional i don't know what you want to call them you know every every

[00:56:50] hero has like variations yeah they must have added an additional variation for all the heroes because

[00:56:57] there was a little fade one now that is like insanely good and just objectively easier to use little

[00:57:05] fades thing is like what if you had a hero that just like just loves to die just has to die just like i

[00:57:13] can't stop it it's like it's a candle person you remember that video that went around of the

[00:57:18] british child going this paradise punch a lemonade it's minging it's minging suck your dad what if that

[00:57:26] was a candle that loved dying that's little fade the soundcloud rapper uh and uh basically all the

[00:57:36] variations for her revolve around just making sure she dies in very specific ways uh to benefit either

[00:57:45] you know the people in the room or just attack the people who kill her one of the one of the

[00:57:52] the new variations is like on death add a ton of burnout and power and health to all creatures

[00:58:03] regardless if they have burnout and it's just like this scales like the amount of work you have to do

[00:58:10] compared to like all the shit you do for the spikes version which is like she starts with a little

[00:58:15] thorns effect that does one damage and then every time someone dies getting thorned it goes up and

[00:58:21] you could see like how you have to cultivate that so carefully over the course of a game and this was

[00:58:26] just like fuck it everyone's big candles keep dying oh and this is why this is the thing that's

[00:58:33] crucial this variation of her has endless you never have to revive her you never have to fucking

[00:58:40] revive her tom she's just back in your hand oh my god yeah oh my god this game is i gotta play monster

[00:58:48] train jesus christ i'm still on oh i'm on elder ring uh being aj aj diddy when he was guesto he was

[00:58:57] talking about elder ring and he was like oh people say that the dlc is too hard no it's not it's not

[00:59:02] too hard it's it's exactly in line with the game already i'll go so far as to say because i was

[00:59:07] playing the dlc and i would pop back to the base game every once in a while the hayleg tree which is

[00:59:12] a fucking part of the base game that sucks big ass is like twice as hard as anything in the dlc

[00:59:18] however i said that that was my opinion before i got to the final boss of the dlc who is fucking

[00:59:25] impossible uh i have not beaten him yet and i don't know if i ever will i'll keep trying but like

[00:59:30] dear lord okay can i ask a question yeah there are two types of final bosses in video games

[00:59:37] yeah there's huge guys and fast guys which one is it so i'm devastated to tell you that he's

[00:59:47] huge and fast these games are on another level joe it's you know what i've made this joke before that

[00:59:55] like if i was a video game boss and i knew what my move set was i would simply do my most powerful

[01:00:02] move over and over and i would never do the move that has a large cooldown where i like slowly

[01:00:10] like pick my sword back up for two seconds before i can do something else well that fucking the guy

[01:00:16] listened to me he's doing that in the game he's only doing his bad his best moves and if he does have

[01:00:23] a move that is a long cooldown it doesn't fucking happen um so here's what really so he's big and

[01:00:29] fast so but and has two phases obviously um so in the first phase he's just a fucking huge guy with

[01:00:36] humongous swords who occasionally will use gravity magic against you where he'll shoot up in the air

[01:00:41] and uh shoot rocks at you for using gravity magic yeah okay makes sense so you can either avoid this

[01:00:47] the slashes or you can do what i do where you drink the special sekiro juice that turns the

[01:00:52] game from elden ring into sekiro which makes it so that when you press the guard button right before

[01:00:57] you get hit it doesn't cost stamina and it makes your next guard counter uh more powerful so i'm like

[01:01:05] oh yeah i'll do that i'll simply parry all of his slashes and then when he gets to the end of a combo

[01:01:11] i'll do a guard counter that's going to be super powerful and it'll kick his big ass and uh i've

[01:01:16] played enough times that i'm like pretty good at uh knowing his combos and the timing and all that

[01:01:21] and i'm like okay i can do that i can do it and i can pretty pretty regularly get him to phase two

[01:01:26] and in phase two he earns the ability to shoot out fucking beams and uh you might be thinking i wonder

[01:01:33] what the animation the wind up for the beam shooting is there isn't one um just come out of his

[01:01:39] they just come out of sometimes it comes from the fucking sky just straight down um sometimes it's

[01:01:44] like a wow druid that's fun yeah and sometimes it shoots out of him like a big beam and it tracks you

[01:01:49] so if you like dodge he will just keep fucking he'll move the beam uh and it's very fast he doesn't move

[01:01:56] it slow and i have something and they're holy damage the beams are holy damage and i have a build

[01:02:03] that has something like 80 percent holy damage negation on top which yeah it means exactly that

[01:02:10] so like if i were to have a holy damage attack that did 100 damage hit me i would only take 20 when i

[01:02:16] get hit by these beams i fucking like have over half my health bar go away so you would be shoes

[01:02:22] otherwise yeah pretty much uh i cannot understand what i'm supposed to do beyond uh reese back into a

[01:02:30] great shield build and just poke him with the spear behind my great shield for an hour or like grind

[01:02:37] 100 levels which i don't want to do hey yeah yeah this is a game i complain but elven ring is so

[01:02:43] fucking good i love that shit you're also kind of disparaging of uh having a big shield and like

[01:02:49] poking for an extended period of time but man lance and monster hunter it has no moveset it only has high

[01:02:57] poke and straight poke and you only have different waltzes steps like you can waltz left waltz right

[01:03:03] but uh so fucking fun it's so like what else do you need it's just all these other weapons have

[01:03:11] they transform they have meters uh they change color the sharp stick what else do you need i can't

[01:03:24] believe when i was playing that monster hunter game that we played on switch i forget what it's

[01:03:28] called it had like a bunch of words after monster hunter instead of a number when we were playing

[01:03:33] that shit i couldn't believe what i was hearing every time i was looking into the insect glaive

[01:03:39] oh it's so fucking fun the goo that is different colors based on where you hit the monster that is

[01:03:46] the japanese game development mind at work because like folks like legit so you have the glaive the part

[01:03:53] where you hit the monster with to do damage but you also have a bug friend and you can press a button

[01:03:59] that shoots the bug friend in a straight line ahead of you and then if it hits the monster depending on

[01:04:05] where where on the monster it hits it'll extract a different type of goo and you can have like three

[01:04:11] goos at a time and the combination of goos will have different effects so if you want a specific effect

[01:04:17] you have to get those types of goo which is just a lot to be juggling mentally because like every

[01:04:23] monster hunter fight is just like oh shit don't hit me don't hit me don't hit me oh fuck don't hit me

[01:04:27] don't hit me i i think about like maybe what would happen if i use the insect glaive well for one i

[01:04:32] would never hit the monster with the insect like i would miss every time because this is the thing about

[01:04:38] the monster you haven't played monster like you would go and he would just not come back the monsters

[01:04:43] don't fucking stand still that's like one of the main things they do is not stand still and they hate

[01:04:50] you like they're kind of dicks they're trying to get you dude uh so like it it's it's honestly like

[01:04:57] asking you to like do the taxes for like someone who owns three small businesses and so like that's why i

[01:05:05] gave up on uh gun lands because like i don't there are three types of ammo for the gun lands there's long

[01:05:12] wide and shot uh and then in addition to that shooting generates heat so that also is another

[01:05:20] thing to manage and obviously the hotter you get the more powerful the melee stabs are also the gun

[01:05:26] part has negative one range so it's really stupid to call it a gun like there was just too much happening

[01:05:31] and then i tried the lance and i was like oh it only pokes yeah and it's got a counter there's like a

[01:05:37] uh it has some move where like you kind of like shoulder check through a move that's dope that is

[01:05:44] pretty good i mean i think the difference between that and what i was describing in elder ring is that

[01:05:49] the lance in monster hunter is a comedy lance that is like 10 times as long as you are tall

[01:05:54] uh funny and you can do a move where you just like run you do like a big run you do the don quixote

[01:06:01] at the windmill yeah except it works uh the windmill really is a giant um but with elden ring

[01:06:09] it's just it like it straight up just is you're standing still with the shield and like a normal

[01:06:13] like even the ridiculous like colossus spears kind of look normal when compared to the uh lances or

[01:06:20] monster hunter and also it does less damage than like a normal weapon because like that's the trade-off

[01:06:26] of it being the safe turtley weapon that you can poke while your shield is up like poke poke poke so

[01:06:33] like just in terms of how long it will take to get this motherfucker's hp bar down and that method

[01:06:39] it's like oh yeah god okay let's go poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke poke

[01:06:47] it just goes on and on i don't want to do that if i don't have to probably do have to fuck it

[01:06:53] there's something so satisfying though when you just have the regular lance and you were underneath

[01:06:59] a monster and you were just jabbing it repeatedly like in the one place it doesn't want to be jabbed

[01:07:05] you're just like yeah yeah yeah yeah i'm being the most effective yeah yeah i loved hunting horn because

[01:07:12] i just think it's very funny that like on one hand it's like a good a useful skill on the weapon in

[01:07:19] that like you can cast buffs over everyone in the party you know so obviously just like as a concept

[01:07:25] too right but then like you're just bashing a dinosaur with a clarinet a bagpipe made of rocks

[01:07:34] that i toot on it's like honestly the reason i like bloodborne the best is because it has

[01:07:41] monster hunter weapons it'd be so cool if bloodborne was playable on anything other than the ps4

[01:07:47] a system that can't run it correctly uh but that's japan baby just because someone wants

[01:07:56] someone just because everyone wants a product that is easy to provide doesn't mean they'll do it

[01:08:01] they put all the dark souls on pc just fine like i know it's different a little but

[01:08:07] like it's still a video game right i don't know dude i think it has something to do with sony

[01:08:11] because like dark souls and elven ring are bandai namco but bloodborne isn't but sekiro also isn't

[01:08:19] that's on pc oh you know what it is it's uh too spooky it is fucking scary dude you turn into a

[01:08:27] monster you can turn into like a werewolf uh well you can't people do and they're they try to get you

[01:08:33] afterwards uh also like goopy guys and then like monsters these all are things that i don't like

[01:08:42] so joe uh before we wrap up i want to talk about you uh the joe covery plan i'm very pleased to hear

[01:08:49] this because uh yeah i abandoned that it was taking too long time no fuck you uh

[01:08:56] no no new input yeah we just we discussed that in the past it's always an issue it was a big

[01:09:03] pandemic problem for obvious reasons i was moaning about how like i feel creatively stagnant because

[01:09:08] and this is especially cute because it had been the one year anniversary of sicker shock 2 and i'm

[01:09:14] just like shit i haven't like written anything substantial since then i really feel like i'm at

[01:09:20] my best when i'm doing something when i have like a project like that but i don't know how i would

[01:09:27] like do that because all of the audio dramas came out of a period of very uh fertile creativity where

[01:09:37] anime sickos was a very new and exciting thing everything was different it felt like there was

[01:09:41] so much infinite possibilities we came up with a ton of ideas and then like i spent years executing on

[01:09:46] them sickos now is very comfortable which is a good thing and i'm glad that we have made it so but

[01:09:52] because of that it is not uh exploding with fertile creativity in the way it once was so i'm just like

[01:09:58] i don't have a fucking thing to do now like what do i write and like i can't like do a project because

[01:10:04] i'm like well i don't have any ideas that i'm like willing to put a lot of time into and it's like

[01:10:10] no a lot it's very stuck for no new input and i gotta say uh one thing that i've gotten a lot of

[01:10:17] fucking fun out of is like i spent a lot of years like fomoing over like people who like uh they're

[01:10:25] seeing a band at a bar they're doing this they're they're going to a show and it occurred to me like

[01:10:33] a couple months ago that you can just do it i can just like i can just yeah like i don't have to

[01:10:39] wait until there's like a band i've heard of like i can just be going and like sometimes it's free dude

[01:10:46] like it's so it's so good i can't believe it i i love this shit it's it's very uh shakes up the brain

[01:10:56] yeah yeah the things are all stale give it a nice stare i'd like to go to one such with you but i do

[01:11:02] understand that for a number of reasons you leaving the house post 7 p.m is like a no go

[01:11:09] yeah i did really want to go with you to uh what's it what a 10 a.m friday coffee tasting they did

[01:11:17] flights of coffee at this place what was it called metric uh yeah and that's like exactly the thing i

[01:11:23] just would have loved to do uh time constraint wise it didn't work out i would have also been like

[01:11:31] these all tastes like coffee uh actually you know what i would have done i would have gone in there

[01:11:38] because they did flights right so they like lay out several in front of you yeah there's four there

[01:11:42] were four types that were on display the thing is about tasting you gotta like have a baseline or

[01:11:48] doesn't mean anything so i go in there with a big gas station coffee so like i sip theirs and then i do a

[01:11:55] big gulp of the coffee and then i let them know how it compares and then i do it again and again

[01:12:02] until someone kicks my ass dude i mean you joke but like i i had a big issue with that because it was

[01:12:09] like i talked about this a lot on twitter so i'm not gonna get too much into it but it was very crowded

[01:12:13] and as a result the time it took to get from you know coffee one to coffee two was like legitimately

[01:12:20] five minutes just because the fucking people weren't moving um and as a result when i got to

[01:12:26] coffee two i'm like okay time to compare this to coffee one oh fuck i don't remember what coffee one

[01:12:31] tasted like uh and then that repeats fucking endlessly and so at the end he's like now which

[01:12:38] of these did you like best i'm like i thought they were all pretty good it's like now which of

[01:12:42] these did you feel had the most acidity it's like i don't know man it was i i sounds like i'm

[01:12:47] disparaging it like if you are into coffee and are in chicago like you have to do this it is such

[01:12:53] a incredible opportunity to do for free and like the guy running it is like the night like

[01:13:00] you made sort of a joke joe like i'm gonna tell the guy like oh make me like hire me to roast the

[01:13:05] coffee make me i take free me from the computer honestly i don't think there's a guy alive

[01:13:10] who would be more excited to mentor someone in the coffee arts than this guy he looks like he's

[01:13:18] having the time of his life sharing coffee facts with people but yeah i don't know doing shit's

[01:13:25] hard but you gotta do it i feel like that's the that's a good thing that's literally why uh it's

[01:13:31] obviously small in scope compared to like going to see a show but like that's why the i fucking

[01:13:37] watching severance played monster train did a few runs was like all right like take the first

[01:13:44] that's a momentum that is a momentum building move yes hell yeah uh and then i can go back to being

[01:13:51] what if i said 20s joe like it's not like the youth part but just like the

[01:13:55] out and about all the time aspect yeah dude i'd love that i mean honestly

[01:14:01] here's what i would love uh on a day that's not 100 degrees so maybe in like

[01:14:09] you know two months the last 901 degrees day of it's gonna be 70 degrees next weekend which

[01:14:16] correct me if i'm wrong but that's good 606 walking 606 walking weather we want a 606 i want

[01:14:23] but i want to be hanging on the roof with you winnie and ivan uh i'm thinking like this is a slam

[01:14:29] this is what i would love to me this would be great because i mean i do like when you come and

[01:14:34] hang out in the day but i i can't help noticing there ain't no winnie there ain't no baby and joe

[01:14:41] left after an hour and a half i had to go get that baby you were talking about no it's true i feel it

[01:14:46] i feel like come on come let's do it let's do it the momentum is building is what we're saying

[01:14:50] i like it uh this is we're done the episode's over i'm gonna you know what i'm gonna title this

[01:14:56] episode you're gonna love this uh it's gonna be more podcasts about buildings and food

[01:15:02] i like that's a that's that's for me all right that's for me that's all the time we have for
